Filed with the City before the permit issues, in a form the City approves and with the surety’s responsibility approved as well. Four features of this one section keep any figure off the page. You may file a bond or a letter of credit. The amount is a formula — the total cost of construction, or a published floor, whichever is greater. The City may waive the requirement entirely on finding you have the financial stability and Colorado assets to satisfy the claims it protects against, and may permit a bond with no surety on it at all. And a letter of responsibility is accepted in place of either instrument from public utilities, franchised entities, and metropolitan, water and sanitation districts. Losing the license is a real risk here: Englewood suspends for up to a year and revokes for up to five, for causes including working without a permit and unsatisfactory work in the judgment of the City.
