McCall Excavation Bond
What it is & who requires it
Contractors and utilities excavating in a McCall street, alley, sidewalk or other public right-of-way. McCall issues no excavation permit until the applicant has filed security with the department of public works, conditioned to insure proper restoration of the surface and subsurface of any street, alley, sidewalk, public right-of-way or public improvement, and to indemnify the city for the expense of restoring them. McCall is a resort city in Valley County and runs its own streets, so unlike the Ada County cities its right-of-way bonding is the city’s own rather than a highway district’s.
Obligee: City of McCall (Department of Public Works; Director of Public Works). Citation: McCall City Code § 8-12-4 (Excavations — Bond); Title VIII Ch. 12.

Term & renewal
Term: Kept and maintained in force for at least one year.
Renewal: Maintained with the City’s department of public works; the one-year minimum runs on the bond rather than on any single permit.
Filing
Filed with the City of McCall’s department of public works before an excavation permit is issued. Two features of the ordinance keep the amount off a price list. The city sets bond amounts by determination of the director of public works rather than publishing a schedule, and the same section lets the director accept, in lieu of the bond, a cash deposit sufficient to cover the cost of repairing or restoring the surface and subsurface — so a non-bond instrument satisfies the requirement and the figure follows your particular scope. Whichever is posted must be kept in force for at least one year. The security covers restoration of the sidewalk along with the street, alley and other public rights-of-way, so there is no separate McCall sidewalk bond to buy. Authority: McCall City Code § 8-12-4.
